This is why I love One Piece. Having a protagonist that has the most ridiculous power ever. Being a rubberman. Oda knows how to make use of this. It’s freaking amazing.

I remember hearing about One Piece for the first time, and that the protagonist has rubber abilities for a super power… to be honest, that turned me off for the anime/manga. I’m so glad I picked it up after years, just in time for the Impel Down / Marineford arc.

tl;dr: Who wants a protagonist that just wins all the time. One that has the best power already? The growth of the character is what entices all of us.
